UC Santa Cruz

Growth Plans

UCSC is proposing a 44% increase in enrollment without tying that growth to critical infrastructure, like housing.

Join us as we work to ensure their plans are centered to serve their students, the community, and the environment.

A better Santa Cruz for all means responsible UCSC Growth

UC Santa Cruz is planning to increase student enrollment by 44% - or an additional 8,500 students -

without committing to tie growth to the development of critical infrastructure,

like housing.

This plan will have significant, negative impacts on everyone who calls Santa Cruz home.

Concerned? You've come to the right place.

Our goal is to secure a legally-binding commitment from

UC Santa Cruz that establishes:

  • 1.

Housing to support additional enrollment growth beyond 19,500 students (including students, faculty, and staff) will be provided on-campus.

  • 2.

All on and off-campus resources and services to accommodate expansion will be provided prior to or concurrent with enrollment growth.

  • 3.

Revise the LRDP so there is no development in North Campus, which is in a CALFire designated High Fire Hazard Severity Zone.
